While I understand the appeal of Outlook for email, you’re really not gaining much by using it with such a fully featured Webmail service like Gmail. You will have to repeat the process for any computer you want to use to connect to Outlook to your Gmail account. The process is a little involved, but there is a very good article by Laptop Mag called “How to Set Up Gmail with 2-Factor Authentication in Outlook” over at /helplineapppassword. To use Outlook you will need to generate an app password in Gmail that you will then use to configure the Outlook program. If you have two-factor authentication enabled for your Gmail account, you won’t have the option of toggling less secure apps. This will allow Outlook to connect to your account.
If you want to use Outlook to access your Gmail account you will have to go to /lesssecureapps and toggle the setting to the ON position.
